STRONG FINISH FOR BLUES AT CANADIAN UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues Nordic ski team posted some great individual performances at the Canadian College and University Nordic championships, March 8-13, in Duntroon, Ont.

The Blues women’s team finished ninth in the team standings, with the Lakehead Thunderwolves, Carleton Ravens and Laurentian Voyageurs taking the top three spots.

Toronto’s men’s team finished 12th in the standings as the UBC Thunderbirds, Okanagan and Carleton were the top three teams during the week-long event.

In women’s action, Erin Mallinger finished 30th and Mary Qiu was 32nd in the women’s 5km skate race.

Aaron Barter finished 38th in the men’s 1.3km junior men’s classic sprint race to lead Toronto’s men’s team, while head coach Hans Fischer was 56th in the men’s 1.3km open classic sprint race.
