After falling to the Queen’s Gaels in a tie-breaking match, the Varsity Blues men’s curling team finished their 2009 regular season in fifth place in the OUA, one spot out of the playoffs.
Toronto recorded victories over the Laurentian Voyageurs, Trent Excalibur, Windsor Lancers and the eventual OUA silver medalist Laurier Golden Hawks. The Blues also had two close games against the Waterloo Warriors and Brock Badgers, falling 6-5 in both.
At the end of season play, five teams had identical 4-4 records. Toronto defeated the Warriors in one tiebreaker, but fell to the Gaels in their second, which left them out of the playoffs.
Skip Pat Janssen was named a second team OUA all-star.
