From January 20-30 in Guatemala City, Arin King of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues is participating at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) under-20 women’s soccer championship as a member of Trinidad and Tobago’s national soccer team

In her first year as a Varsity Blue, King (Pickering, Ont.) scored four goals and was named an OUA second team all-star. She helped Toronto finish second in the OUA East division and were the consolation champions in their first-ever appearance at the CIS national tournament. 

"Arin is one of the leading young talents in our women's soccer program," said Blues head coach Eva Havaris. "This is a wonderful opportunity for her and this experience will assist her tremendously to grow as a player and future leader of our program. Her teammates and coaching staff are extremely proud of her and wish her the best in this tournament." 

Originally contested as an under-19 event in conjunction with FIFA's standards in 2002 and 2004, the CONCACAF U-20 women's championship is staged every two years with three teams qualifying for the biennial World Cup. 

CONCACAF's championship is an eight-team event with the three nations from North America, joined by three from the Caribbean and two from Central America. 

The tournament begins Wednesday with a doubleheader featuring defending champion Canada and Costa Rica, and Guatemala against Cuba.

Trinidad & Tobago will face Mexico in their first game on Thursday, January 21 at 3 p.m. (EST).
