SCHUTZ TO COMPETE IN 2ND ANNUAL OUA ALL-STAR GAME

Nicki Schutz of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues has been selected to play in the second annual OUA women’s basketball all-star game on Saturday, May 1 hosted by Wilfrid Laurier University.

Twenty five players will showcase their skills in a battle of East versus West as a part of the 2010 Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) Ontario Cup.

Named a 2009-10 OUA first team all-star and CIS second team all-Canadian, Schutz will again look to lead the East to victory. The fourth-year physical education and health student scored a game-high 21 points to lead the East to a 77-64 victory in last year’s inaugural event.

Schutz led the CIS with 11 rebounds per game and was third in the OUA with 17.95 points per game this season. The Toronto native recorded 14 doubles-doubles this season, including 11 in the last 12 games. With 21 points and 10 boards, Schutz also helped lead the team in an upset of the third-place Queen’s Gaels in OUA East quarter-final action.

Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. on May 1 at the WLU Athletic Complex in Waterloo, Ont. Admission is free of charge.
