Sarah Wells of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues track and field team earned a bronze medal as a member of Canada’s 4x400m relay team at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) under-23 championships, July 9-11, in Miramar, Fla.
Wells of Unionville, Ont., teamed up with Amonn Nelson of Calgary and Oakville, Ont., natives Jessica Smith and Miana Griffiths to place third in a time of 3:40.09. The Canadian team finished a mere two seconds behind Jamaica (3:38.05). The United States took the gold in 3:29.80.
A third-year physical education and health student, Wells also finished fifth in the women’s 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 57.64 seconds.
