Both men’s and women’s gold-medal matches at the 2011 Old Four tournament have been cancelled due to excessive water on the field.

The Varsity Blues men’s and women’s soccer teams were slated to face the host McGill Redmen/Martlets in their respective final matches this afternoon before the field was deemed unplayable.

The Blues men defeated the Western Mustangs 4-1 in Saturday’s semifinal, while the women came away with a 1-0 shut out over Mustangs later in the day.

The Varsity Blues open their 2011 regular season campaign next weekend at Varsity Centre. The women start the action on Saturday, September 3 as they host the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 1 p.m. Both teams then take on the Carleton Ravens on Sunday with the women scheduled for 12 p.m. and the men to follow at 3 p.m.
