The Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team is pleased to announce that Jonathan Rudyk has made known his commitment to play lacrosse and accepted his offer of admission into the University of Toronto in the fall of 2012.
A native of Toronto, Rudyk joins the Varsity Blues as a two-time OFSAA champion with St. Michael’s College. The defensive midfielder won the 2010 AAA OFSAA championship, before the team advanced to the AAAA division and again earned the title in 2011. He is known for his tenacious work ethic, and strong physical play.
“Jonathan comes from a strong lacrosse program at St. Mike’s,” said Varsity Blues head coach Joe Nizich. “They travel extensively in the U.S. and play top American schools, which gives Jonathan tremendous experience on the field.”
Rudyk also enjoyed success as a junior football Metro Bowl champion in 2008. The honour roll student plans to study chemical engineering in September.
Students who sign a letter of intent and commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
