The Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team is pleased to announce that goalie Lowell Hunt has made known his commitment to play lacrosse and accepted his offer of admission into the University of Toronto in the fall of 2012.
An Orangeburg, N.Y., native, Hunt is a versatile athlete coming from Pearl River High School. He was chosen to the 2011 all-league team, while receiving honourable mentions to the all-county team. He has also been named an all-county second team all-star in hockey and won the scholar-athlete award in both hockey and lacrosse from 2009-12.
“Having Lowell commit to play fills our greatest need,” commented Varsity Blues head coach Joe Nizich. “He had a stellar save percentage of 0.714 last year and we’re looking forward to seeing him in the Blue and White.”
A well-rounded student-athlete, Hunt is a member of the national honour society and the world honour society for Latin and Spanish. He is also active in the community, having volunteered at Nyack Hospital for the past few years. Hunt plans to study social science in the Faculty of Arts & Science in September.
Students who sign a letter of intent and commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
