TOP RESULTS FOR BLUES ON DAY 1 OF CAN AM CLASSIC

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's track and field team is in Windsor, Ont., for the 2017 Can Am Classic, January 13-14.
 
Third-year sprinter Anthony Kwan got the Blues off to a great start, winning the men's 60m hurdles in 8.37 seconds.
 
Toronto's men's 4x800 relay team of Craig Klomp, Ben Devito, Alexander Bimm and Sacha Smart finished second in 7:40.81, while the Blues men's 4x200 relay team of Rayshaun Franklin, Alexander Lau, Jack Berkshire and Charles Sutton placed third in 1:31.81.
 
Ezana Debalkew (13.31m) and Rostam Turner (12.80m) placed seventh and ninth, respectively in the men's shot put.
 
In women's action, Toronto's 4x200 relay team of Katrina Innanen, Maddie Warren, Phoebe Simmons and Lindsay Brandys placed second in 1:42.50.
 
Brittany Salmon placed third in the pole vault, clearing 3.71m, while Kerry-Ann James was third in the triple jump with a distance of 11.73m. Laura Amoi was fourth with a jump of 11.48m.  
 
The meet wraps up tomorrow, starting with the men's weight throw at 8:30 a.m. and wrapping up with the men's 4x400 relay at 4 p.m.
