University of Toronto Athletics

Financial Aid/Awards

Recognition of success is extremely important whether through championship banner raisings or media coverage. The University of Toronto acknowledges the best in intercollegiate athletics in several ways. Each year the male and female athlete of the year awards are selected; community involvement, academic achievement and athletic commitment are rewarded with the Clara Benson and George M. Biggs awards; Silver Ts are awarded to outstanding graduating student-athletes; and individual teams bestow recognition with MVP, leadership and commitment awards. The T-Holder's Academic Excellence Awards recognize student-athletes who earn first-class academic standing the same year that they earn a first colour T. Distinguished service awards recognize comunity involvement, academic achievement and athletic commitment and are based on a nomination process. The annual Varsity Blues Intercollegiate Athletic Banquet is the final celebratory event of the Varsity season and brings together all student athletes from across the university and across every sport to celebrate the commonly shared Varsity Blues experience.

Intramural involvement is also recognized each year. Each constituency competing in intramural athletics has the opportunity to win a number of banners. Awards for individual excellence in intramural athletics is based upon a nomination process.
